Experience With Special Children -
I have been working for the past 3 years with special children with various level of problems. I have got very good results, but the main thing to remember is you need patience, we need to understand one thing even when we listen to a new music we take time to understand it so when working with special children it is a bit slow process, but the results are amazing.
It is also seen by me a particular music working and effective for one child may not be effective for the other. That is what we define as individuality.
I have till now used music that is normally playful and liked by the children and not very classical. Because I feel if a child has to react and respond to a particular music, it has to relax his mind and for that the child has to like it.
Sometimes it takes 3 to 6 months for the special child to react and respond to the music and in some cases it may be 15 days. Sometimes a negative reaction can also follow a positive response that very common.
It is a complicated and very difficult way to use music therapy on special children. But when good results and response are seen all difficulties are laid aside. Parents also required to be aware to music therapy and the way it will work on their child.
The best part of music therapy is it is always done in a way of background process and not sitting in classroom and has no negative or side effects ever.
